Counselling Therapy

  • Individual Sessions

Individual counselling is like taking a directed study on yourself. Kylie begins with a client-centred approach to build a safe and authentic therapeutic relationship with her clients. She also integrates skills from various evidence-based therapies to meet her clients’ needs. Some of these theories and therapies include humanistic/existential therapy, Gestalt, attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy, CBT, DBT, and family systems. Individual counselling therapy sessions can be very helpful for clients navigating concerns such as: anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relational communication, ADHD, and finding meaning/purpose in life.

Kylie specializes in equine and nature assisted psychotherapy. She also has additional training in trauma processing (Observed Experiential Integration/OEI Level 2) and existential analysis.

    Sessions Costs:

    - 50 minute sessions are $160
    - 75 minute sessions are $220

  • Farmers & Ranchers

Growing up in the country is something Kylie used to take for granted until she realized how much she learned about problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork by living and working on a farm. Farmers and ranchers know how to help their neighbours and get things done, which is why it’s so important to invite them to pause when it counts and let themselves be on the receiving end of help sometimes. Navigating stress, finances, grief/loss, and family conflicts are just a few of the areas that often improve with counselling for folks working in agriculture. Funding is also available to cover the cost of counselling for farmers through AgSafe BC. To learn more about funding, visit www.agsafebc.ca.

  • Children & Youth

Kylie began volunteering with therapeutic riding for children and youth in 2006. Since that time, Kylie has worked extensively with kids and youth at camps, ranches and outdoor leadership and resiliency programs. Kylie has learned first-hand that children and youth often have an easier time connecting through movement and shared activities. As a result, Kylie likes using equine, canine, and nature assisted and therapies to help young people engage, understand themselves more, and discover the unique strengths they bring to the world. Kylie is also an approved counselling service provider with the Autism Funding Unit of BC.

  • Family & Group Counselling

Working with families and groups is a unique opportunity to grow and learn about oneself because the process of how we communicate in the moment is oftentimes more important than the contentwe actually talk about. Whether it’s working through family issues or meeting together in Gestalt process groups, Kylie seeks to understand important relational dynamics in the present moment and help people develop personal insights that lead to deeper connection. Kylie has also taught group counselling and Gestalt therapy groups to graduate students at Trinity Western University.

Family/group sessions take place in person and are 75 minutes long. The cost of a 75 minute family/group session is $240.

  • Veterans & First Responders

One of the most challenging parts of navigating trauma is that simply talking about it often falls short of achieving meaningful change. A growing collection of research suggests that the body keeps the score of our psychological and emotional trauma. Therefore, in order to treat trauma effectively, we must integrate therapies that work with the mind, heart, and body.

To facilitate a deeper experience of healing, Kylie uses Gestalt therapy and relational horsemanship to process gut feelings and other somatic experiences in the “here and now.” Horses are highly-sensitive prey animals that reflect what they feel in the moment from people with no judgement. The horse has no agenda when it comes to making you look good or bad, so their honest feedback is invaluable, particularly for individuals struggling with operational stress injuries or PTSD. In addition to this honest feedback, the horse offers a sense of presence, attunement, and peace that is hard to replicate elsewhere.

Individual sessions are available in person and online. For online sessions, Kylie works with clients to develop embodied protocols that they can do outside of session to address issues connected to the body. Kylie is an approved counselling therapy provider with Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) so it is possible to apply for funding through Medavie Blue Cross with a counselling therapy prescription from your doctor or nurse practitioner.

New Clients

Kylie is currently accepting virtual clients only. Some equine and walk & talk sessions are available seasonally as a compliment to your online work.
